ACT Desi: A Journey of Connection, Culture, and Community Building
In the rich tapestry of languages, the word 'Desh' holds significance as it translates to 'country' in Hindi, one of the top five languages spoken worldwide. Derived from this linguistic root, 'Desi' encapsulates the essence of being a 'countryfolk.' While predominantly spoken in India, this linguistic connection resonates across borders, finding a place in neighbouring countries like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan, where Hindi is understood and spoken.
From its inception, the vision for ACT Desi was to create a platform to address the challenges faced by migrants, amplify local success stories, and impart knowledge about Indian cultures and traditions. More than just a community radio show; it serves as a bridge between our motherland, India, and our adopted home, Australia, embracing and respecting diverse cultures and values.
With over two decades of experience in brand building and reputation management, I recognised the imperative to effectively leverage every communication tool to fulfill ACT Desi's vision and reach boarder audience. The key challenge was to optimize content to suit various platforms, whether through the airwaves (https://www.2xxfm.org.au//shows/act-desi), on a dedicated website (www.content-artist.com/actdesi), or through active promotion on social media channels (www.facebook.com/actdesifm and www.instagram.com/actdesi).
Today, I am thrilled to announce a significant milestone in our journey. After four successful years of nurturing ACT Desi, it has officially become an incorporated Association, known as ACT Desi Inc. This transformation empowers us to engage with the community on a broader scale and deliver the focused outcomes we aspire to achieve as we continue to grow.
In essence, 'ACT Desi' represents my personal commitment to bridging cultures, celebrating diversity, and strengthening our community.
