He is a seasoned marketing and communications professional with over two decades of experience in creating and managing integrated communications campaigns for diverse industry clients. Passion for media, entertainment and to create something meaningful led Vikas to create ACT Desi, a differentiated media platform for the diverse Indian and international community in not just Australia but across the world. ACT Desi: A Journey of Connection, Culture, and Community Building In the rich tapestry of languages, the word 'Desh' holds significance as it translates to 'country' in Hindi, one of the top five languages spoken worldwide. Derived from this linguistic root, 'Desi' encapsulates the essence of being a 'countryfolk.' While predominantly spoken in India, this linguistic connection resonates across borders, finding a place in neighbouring countries like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan, where Hindi is understood and spoken. From its inception, the vision for ACT Desi was to create a platform to address the challenges faced by migrants, amplify local success stories, and impart knowledge about Indian cultures and traditions. More than just a community radio show; it serves as a bridge between our motherland, India, and our adopted home, Australia, embracing and respecting diverse cultures and values.
